The local women around Bwindi are incredibly talented in hand crafts, the Basket Weaving & Tailoring Experience gives the opportunity for then to share some of the knowledge that has been passed down through generations.
The women will explain how the fibres for baskets are harvested, dyed and prepared in order to weave them into baskets, bowls and placemats. From here you will learn weaving techniques that are able to produce different styles and patterns before being given the opportunity to try them for yourself.
You will then be shown how the women tailor clothes using traditional food pedal sewing machines. It is hard to miss the colourful fabrics and beautiful clothes worn across the region as well as the amount of skill that goes into creating each individual piece.
The Basket Weaving & Tailoring Experience is expected to around 2 hours and costs $20 per person.
